A couple with two toddlers looking for a home found this flat in Sarrià with views of Santa Amèlia Park and Collserola Mountains.
The flat needed an update to be suitable for its new users’ needs. Spaces and circulation needed a makeover to make them more efficient.
The key idea of the project was to place together the common areas in one single space, consisting of living room, entrance hall and study, in order to lend greater visual and spatial depth to the flat. This main area offers good views of the exterior from both its ends: the living room overlooks the Santa Amèlia Park and the study faces Collserola Mountains, flooding the space with natural light.
Another issue was the connection between kitchen and living room, which wasn’t convenient. We relocated its access in the dining room and we opened a window to the kitchen to strengthen this link even more, to avoid isolating the kitchen and to give it a more important role.
With regard to materials, we chose a natural wood floor that along with fair colours gives a neutral and bright air to the home that matches with any kind of furniture and decoration. Bathrooms and kitchen share the same floor tiling printed with different tones, unifying the formal language of the whole home.
